Paralympiad , n :
(sports) An occurrence of the Paralympic Games. (sports, rare) A period of four years between occurrences of the Paralympic Games. (by extension) Usually preceded by a descriptive word: a competition or series of competitions for disabled participants involving sports or other activities. The 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, also known as the Games of the XIV Paralympiad, end today after having been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
